How to Sell Event Tickets Through Instagram

How to Sell Event Tickets Through Instagram

Last updated at: Mar 8, 2026

Instagram doesn't process ticket payments directly. The workflow is simple: your TixFox event page handles checkout, and Instagram drives people to it. Here's how to set that up correctly.

1. Add Your Ticket Link to Your Bio

Your bio is the only place on Instagram with a permanently clickable link. Before you post anything about your event:

  1. Go to your Instagram profile and tap Edit Profile

  2. Paste your TixFox event URL in the Website field

  3. Update your bio text to direct people to it — for example: "Tickets for our next event 👇"

If you run multiple events simultaneously, use a link-in-bio tool (Linktree or similar) to list all your active TixFox event links in one place.

Every event post you publish should end with "Link in bio" — this is how people get from your post to your checkout.

2. Add a Link Sticker to Your Stories

Stories link stickers are available to all accounts — no follower minimum required. This is your most direct conversion tool on Instagram.

  1. Create a new Story (photo, video, or graphic)

  2. Tap the sticker icon → select Link

  3. Paste your TixFox event URL

  4. Change the sticker label to "Get Tickets" or "Buy Now"

  5. Position it clearly and post

Add a countdown sticker showing days until the event — it creates urgency automatically. Save your ticket Stories to a Highlight on your profile so they're visible to anyone who visits, not just your 24-hour Story viewers.

3. Track Which Posts Are Driving Sales

Create a unique UTM-tagged link for each Instagram surface. TixFox's analytics will show you which one actually converted buyers — not just which got clicks.

4. Run Ads to Reach Beyond Your Followers

If you want to reach people who don't already follow you, Instagram ads are the most targeted option. Send all ad traffic directly to your TixFox event page — not your profile, not your homepage.

Key targeting settings:

  • Location: 15–30 mile radius around your venue

  • Interests: Match your event type (craft beer, live music, comedy, etc.)

  • Custom audience: Export your past attendee list from TixFox as a CSV, upload to Meta Ads Manager, and create a Lookalike Audience from it

Real photos from past events outperform designed graphics in almost every case. Show people what attending actually looks and feels like.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add a "Get Tickets" button to my Instagram profile like Eventbrite? That button is part of an exclusive Eventbrite–Meta partnership and isn't available to other ticketing platforms. The bio link and Stories link sticker are the standard approach — and what most organizers use regardless of platform.

Do I need 10,000 followers to use link stickers in Stories? No. Instagram removed that requirement in 2021. Any account can add a link sticker to a Story.

Can I sell tickets inside the Instagram app? No. Tickets are purchased on your TixFox checkout page, which opens in a browser when someone taps your link. This is the correct approach and also avoids any Apple in-app purchase fees on iOS devices.
