Etix Fees in 2026: What One Public Etix Contract Charges

Updated October 2026: rewritten around a public 2025 Etix contract, checked on October 8, 2026.

Etix doesn't publish a price list. Its site for venues has no pricing page, only buttons to request or schedule a demo. If you've searched for Etix fees and found nothing but guesses, that's why.

One venue's deal is public, though. In 2025 the West Plains Civic Center in Missouri moved from Ticketmaster to Etix, and the agreement went to the city council with its term sheet attached. Here's what that contract charges, what it means for a $25 ticket, and how it compares with TixFox's published 39¢.

How much does Etix charge? Etix doesn't publish a price list. In the public West Plains Civic Center contract dated April 2025, buyers pay 10% of the ticket's face value on online sales, with a $1 minimum and a $5 maximum per ticket. The contract also lists a 3% card fee, 10¢ per box office ticket paid by the venue, and $2.50 per order on phone sales.

Why Etix doesn't list its prices

Etix has sold tickets since 2000. Its support site calls it "a primary ticketing provider, meaning venues and event organizers use Etix to sell their own ticket inventory directly to customers." The West Plains council memo describes it as processing "more than 50 million tickets per year for 4,100+ clients" in 40 countries.

Etix works by contract. A venue signs an agreement, and Etix sells that venue's tickets for it. The fees buyers see come from that agreement, not from a public price list, so a signed contract is the best evidence there is.

What the West Plains contract charges

Etix contract term sheet for the West Plains Civic Center, Missouri, dated April 22, 2025: 10% of face value per online ticket with a $1 minimum and $5 maximum, a 3% bank charge card fee, 10 cents per paid box office ticket, and a 3-year exclusive term that renews for 2 more years

The term sheet in the West Plains agreement lists:

  • Online, package and group sales: 10% of face value, $1 minimum, $5 maximum per ticket
  • Box office sales: 10¢ per paid ticket, nothing on free tickets
  • Card fee: 3%
  • Phone sales: the same 10%, plus $2.50 per order
  • Mailed tickets: $3.50 per order first class, $19.95 express
  • On-site tech support, if you want it: $1,500 per agent per day plus travel
  • No charge for setup, support, the merchant account connection or ticket stock
  • Term: 3 years, then it renews for 2 more unless either side gives notice more than 30 days before the end

The memo adds that the online fees "are charged to the guest making the purchase," and that Etix will provide "points of sale, ticket scanners, and ticket stock at no cost."

One more clause matters: the venue grants Etix "the exclusive right and authority to sell" all of its tickets, online, at the box office, by phone, for groups and for season tickets.

What that costs on each ticket

TixFox charges 39¢ per ticket (30¢ under $5) plus Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢. To compare fairly, count card fees on both. The Etix contract doesn't say what its 3% is charged on, so we used the ticket's face value, the lowest reading.

Fees on one ticket, card processing included. $10 ticket: Etix contract $1.30, TixFox $0.98. $25 ticket: $3.25 and $1.42. $50 ticket: $6.50 and $2.14. $100 ticket: $8.00 and $3.59

On a one-ticket order:

  • $10 ticket: $1.30 under the Etix contract, $0.98 on TixFox
  • $25 ticket: $3.25 against $1.42
  • $50 ticket: $6.50 against $2.14
  • $100 ticket: $8.00 against $3.59

Who pays is different, too. Under this contract, the buyer pays Etix's 10% and the venue pays the card fee. On TixFox you choose per ticket type. Pass the fees on, and a $25 ticket costs the buyer $26.46. Under the Etix contract, the same ticket costs the buyer $27.50.

TixFox Create Ticket Type screen: the Handle Fees menu with Pass fee to the buyer and Absorb fee, and the Pricing Summary for a $25 ticket showing TixFox fee $0.39, payment processing $1.07 and Buyer Will Pay $26.46

The $5 cap is where Etix's buyer fee comes out lower. On tickets above about $144, an Etix buyer pays less than a TixFox buyer with fees passed on: $155.00 against $155.19 on a $150 ticket. The venue still pays Etix's card fee on top, $4.50 on that ticket. It also comes out a cent lower right around $10.

A sold-out 600-seat show at $25

Take a 600-seat show that sells out online at $25. Under the West Plains terms, buyers pay $1,500 in Etix fees. On TixFox, with fees passed on and one ticket per order, they pay $876, card processing included. The venue on Etix also pays the 3% card fee, at least $450 for the night.

A sold-out 600-seat show at $25: buyers pay $1,500 in fees under the Etix contract and $876 on TixFox. If Etix processes the cards, the venue is paid weekly for shows held the week before. TixFox sales go into the organizer's Stripe account as they sell

When the money arrives

By default, the West Plains contract runs card payments through the venue's own merchant account, and Etix sends invoices for what it's owed. Unpaid invoices accrue 1.5% a month after 30 days. After 90 days unpaid, Etix can switch to collecting on its own merchant account.

When Etix processes the cards, it pays the venue weekly, for events held the previous Monday through Sunday, by check or ACH. The contract also lets Etix hold ticket money in an account with funds from its other clients, and the venue covers all chargebacks.

On TixFox, each sale goes into your own Stripe account as it happens, and TixFox never holds the money. In the US, Stripe makes card payments available for payout after about 2 business days. Our guide to selling tickets with Stripe has the details.

When Etix is the better choice

Etix is built for venues that want one partner for every sales channel. It may fit better if:

  • You run a venue with a box office, a phone line and season tickets, and want Etix's call center and mail service handling them.
  • You need reserved seating with seat maps and seat views now. TixFox's reserved seating is coming soon.
  • You want box office hardware included. In the West Plains deal, points of sale, scanners and ticket stock come at no cost.
  • You sell season packages or timed entry, or let members buy restricted seats online with a member ID, which Etix lists among its features.
  • You're fine with terms like the West Plains deal: buyers pay the online fee, under a multi-year exclusive contract.

When TixFox costs less

  • Online tickets under the West Plains terms: $1.42 against $3.25 on a $25 ticket, card fees counted.
  • No contract: no 3-year term, no exclusivity and no auto-renewal. TixFox has no monthly fees or setup costs.
  • Cheap tickets: the contract's $1 minimum is 20% of a $5 ticket. TixFox charges 39¢.
  • Cash flow: sales go into your Stripe account as they happen.

If you're weighing a switch, here's what switching from Etix to TixFox looks like. We've done the same math for SimpleTix and TicketLeap.

To try TixFox, create a free account, connect Stripe and put your first event on sale. Free events cost $0, and paid tickets are 39¢ each ($0.30 under $5) plus Stripe's card processing. See TixFox pricing.

FAQ

How much are Etix fees?

Etix doesn't publish its fees. In the public West Plains Civic Center contract from 2025, online buyers pay 10% of the ticket's face value, at least $1 and at most $5 per ticket, and phone orders add $2.50 per order.

Why does Etix charge a convenience fee?

The convenience fee is how Etix is paid for online sales under the West Plains agreement. Etix receives the online fee, and the venue's council memo says those fees "are charged to the guest making the purchase."

Can you avoid Etix fees?

Under the West Plains contract, the 10% fee applies to online, package, group and phone sales. Box office sales carry a 10¢ fee that the venue pays, so buying at the window skips the online fee. The venue can still charge its own facility fee.

Is Etix legit?

Yes. Etix is a primary ticketing company that has sold tickets for venues since 2000. Buying through Etix.com or a link from the venue's own website is the safe route.

Does Etix charge organizers a monthly fee?

Not in the West Plains contract. Setup, support and the merchant account connection are listed at no charge. The charges in that contract are the per-ticket fees, the card fee and optional services such as mailing tickets and on-site support.

Is Etix cheaper than TixFox?

Under the West Plains terms, not on online sales once card fees are counted. On a $25 ticket, those terms come to $3.25 in fees against $1.42 on TixFox. Etix's box office fee of 10¢ a ticket is low, and its $5 cap helps buyers on tickets above about $144.
