Updated October 2026: rewritten with SimpleTix's current fees, checked against its pricing page and fee calculator on October 8, 2026.
SimpleTix keeps its pricing short. No setup fee, no monthly fee, no contract, and one online rate: 79¢ + 2% per ticket, plus card processing.
The 2% is the part to watch, because it grows with your ticket price. A $25 ticket carries $1.29 in SimpleTix fees. A $100 ticket carries $2.79. TixFox charges 39¢ on both. Below is what that gap costs your buyers, what it adds up to over a season, and the tickets where SimpleTix is cheaper.
How much does SimpleTix charge? SimpleTix charges 79¢ + 2% per ticket sold online, capped at $9.99 per ticket, plus card processing from your payment processor. Tickets of $5 and under pay a flat 25¢, and so do tickets sold in person. Free general admission events are free, and there are no setup or monthly fees.
How SimpleTix's pricing works
SimpleTix lists these fees on its pricing page:
- 79¢ + 2% per online ticket, capped at $9.99 per ticket
- 25¢ flat on tickets of $5 and under
- 25¢ flat on tickets sold in person, at the box office or gate
- 71¢ + 2% for eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofits
- Free events cost nothing for general admission and Flex Pass tickets. Free reserved seats are 25¢ each.
- No setup, monthly or contract fees. "Every plan includes everything," the page says.
Card processing is separate. SimpleTix works with Square, Stripe, PayPal and Authorize.net, and you pay whatever your processor charges. Its fee calculator assumes 2.9% + 30¢.
You can pass the fees to buyers, absorb them, or add a custom fee of your own on top and keep all of it.
What your buyer pays at each price
TixFox charges 39¢ per ticket (30¢ under $5) plus Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢. SimpleTix's own calculator adds fees the same way TixFox does when buyers pay them, so the numbers line up. You receive the full ticket price on both. The difference is what lands on your buyer.
For a one-ticket order with fees passed on:
- $10 ticket: $11.63 on SimpleTix, $11.01 on TixFox
- $25 ticket: $27.38 on SimpleTix, $26.46 on TixFox
- $50 ticket: $53.65 on SimpleTix, $52.20 on TixFox
- $100 ticket: $106.17 on SimpleTix, $103.70 on TixFox
- $250 ticket: $263.74 on SimpleTix, $258.18 on TixFox
The $100 figure matches the example on SimpleTix's own pricing page. If you absorb the fees instead, you keep $22.68 of a $25 ticket on SimpleTix and $23.58 on TixFox. On a $100 ticket, it's $94.01 against $96.41.
Where SimpleTix is cheaper
SimpleTix wins on paid tickets of $5 and under. Its flat 25¢ beats TixFox's 30¢ under $5, and its 39¢ at exactly $5. A $5 ticket costs the buyer $5.72 on SimpleTix and $5.86 on TixFox.
From $5.01 up, the 2% kicks in and SimpleTix's online fee jumps to 89¢ or more. TixFox stays at 39¢.
The $9.99 cap only matters on tickets above $460. Below that, the 2% keeps climbing with the price.
A year of SimpleTix fees
The per-ticket gap adds up over a season. A community theater selling 1,000 tickets a year at $25 pays $1,290 in SimpleTix fees and $390 on TixFox. If it raises its prices to $50, SimpleTix's fees rise to $1,790. TixFox's stay at $390.
Those are platform fees only. If you absorb the fees and use Stripe on both, card processing is the same too, since Stripe charges 2.9% + 30¢ on the same ticket price.
The nonprofit rate trims 8 cents from the flat part. At $25, a nonprofit pays $1.21 a ticket on SimpleTix. TixFox charges everyone 39¢ on tickets of $5 and up, nonprofits included.
The same gap shows up outside the US. On a 25-unit ticket, SimpleTix charges £1.29 against TixFox's £0.38, €1.29 against €0.39, and CA$1.49 against CA$0.56.
Card processing and payouts
SimpleTix lets you pick your processor, which helps if you already use Square or PayPal. With Square in the US, Stripe or PayPal, its fee comes off each transaction. With other processors, and for cash, check or bank transfer orders, SimpleTix charges your card on the 1st of the following month.
On payouts, SimpleTix promises "immediate payouts to your merchant account." TixFox works the same way through Stripe: sales go into your own Stripe account as they come in, and TixFox never holds the money. In the US, Stripe makes card payments available for payout after about 2 business days.
What one organizer says about TixFox's fees
Here's one organizer's take on TixFox's fees. Sam Dakart, who handles marketing for the Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention, left this review on Trustpilot in July 2026: "the fees they take are by far the lowest I've come across, giving our attendees more buying power to get our pricier ticket options."
