Tix Fees in 2026: The $1.50 Online Fee and the 5% Option

Updated October 2026: rewritten with Tix's current fees, checked against its pricing section on October 8, 2026.

Tix, the box office system at tix.com, keeps its pricing short: no setup, monthly or annual fees, $1.50 for every ticket sold online and $0.25 for every ticket sold at your box office. You can pass all of it on to your buyers.

The detail that changes the math is how you take cards. Use Tix's merchant account and it adds 5% of the ticket price. Use your own, and you pay your own processor instead. Here's what each option costs, when the money reaches you, and how it compares with TixFox's 39¢.

How much does Tix charge? Tix charges $1.50 per ticket sold online and $0.25 per ticket sold through its box office system, with no setup, monthly or annual fees. If you use Tix's merchant account for card processing, it adds 5% of the ticket price. With your own merchant account, Tix adds nothing, and your processor charges its own fee.

How Tix's pricing works

The pricing section on Tix's site lists:

  • Online fee: $1.50 per ticket, for sales on desktop and mobile
  • Box office fee: $0.25 per ticket, for walk-up and other sales through its box office system
  • Card processing: 5% of the ticket price on Tix's merchant account, or nothing extra from Tix if you use your own
  • No setup, monthly or annual fees
  • Printing and mailing, if you want it: $3.00 per order, or $0.20 per ticket plus shipping to have tickets sent to you

All of Tix's fees can be passed to the buyer, or built into your ticket price. Tix works with over 30 payment gateways for your own merchant account, including Stripe, Authorize.net and PayPal.

What one online ticket costs

TixFox charges 39¢ per ticket ($0.30 under $5) plus Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢. To compare fairly, we've counted card processing on both: Tix's 5% on its merchant account, or Stripe's fee if you connect your own Stripe account to Tix.

Fees on one online ticket, card processing included. $10 ticket: Tix with its merchant account $2.00, Tix with your own Stripe $2.09, TixFox $0.98. $25: $2.75, $2.53 and $1.42. $50: $4.00, $3.25 and $2.14. $100: $6.50, $4.70 and $3.59

On a one-ticket order, with you absorbing the fees:

  • $10 ticket: $2.00 on Tix's merchant account, $2.09 on Tix with your own Stripe, $0.98 on TixFox
  • $25 ticket: $2.75, $2.53 and $1.42
  • $50 ticket: $4.00, $3.25 and $2.14
  • $100 ticket: $6.50, $4.70 and $3.59

With Stripe on both, the card fee is the same, so the difference is the platform fee: $1.50 against 39¢, or $1.11 a ticket. Over a season of 3,000 online tickets, that's $4,500 in Tix online fees against $1,170 on TixFox.

TixFox Create Ticket Type screen: the Handle Fees menu with Pass fee to the buyer and Absorb fee, and the Pricing Summary for a $25 ticket showing TixFox fee $0.39, payment processing $1.07 and Buyer Will Pay $26.46

When the money reaches you

Tix's payment schedule depends on whose merchant account you use. With your own, Tix says ticket revenue "goes directly into your account within 48-72 hours after each ticket purchase," and it invoices you for its fees. With Tix's merchant account, it sends "a check the week after the event."

Tix's two ways to take cards, and TixFox. Tix with its merchant account: $1.50 a ticket, 5% card processing, paid by check the week after the event. Tix with your merchant account: $1.50 a ticket, your processor's fee, money 48 to 72 hours after each sale. TixFox with your Stripe: 39 cents a ticket, Stripe 2.9% + 30 cents, paid into Stripe as you sell

On TixFox, each sale goes into your own Stripe account as it happens, and TixFox never holds the money. You control your Stripe balance and move it to your bank on your own schedule. In the US, Stripe makes card payments available for payout after about 2 business days.

What one organizer says about TixFox

Fast answers matter too, especially in the week before a show. A reviewer named Jo wrote this on Trustpilot in August 2026: "John was spectacular about answering all of my questions."

When Tix is the better choice

  • You sell most tickets at a box office, where Tix charges $0.25 a ticket.
  • You need reserved seating now, with multiple price tiers and photographic seat views. TixFox's reserved seating is coming soon.
  • You run season packages with same-seat renewals.
  • You sell tickets at a Nevada gaming venue. Tix says it's approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission.
  • Your college needs CashNET or TouchNet support, or you want Tix's call center service.

When TixFox costs less

  • Every online ticket: 39¢ against $1.50, or $1.11 a ticket less with Stripe on both.
  • No 5% surcharge for card processing on top of the platform fee.
  • Money as you sell: each sale goes into your own Stripe account, instead of a check the week after the event on Tix's merchant account.

If you're weighing a switch, here's what switching from Tix to TixFox looks like. We've done the same math for SimpleTix and TicketSpice.

To try TixFox, create a free account, connect Stripe and put your first event on sale. Free events cost $0, and paid tickets are 39¢ each ($0.30 under $5) plus Stripe's card processing. See TixFox pricing.
